[Hangzhou, August 6] – Hoymiles, a world-leading power electronics company well-versed in PV and energy storage and specializing in microinverters, introduces a complete PV-ESS-EV solution that brings homeowners’ solar energy experience to a new level. “The demand for electric vehicles is surging worldwide and car owners are looking to renewable energy to charge their vehicles”, said Hoymiles Hoymiles Vice President Guy Rong. “By combining solar PV system, energy storage and EV charger, Hoymiles offers a complete solar energy ecosystem for homeowners, so that homeowners can enjoy a greener life with significantly lower energy costs.”

The Hoymiles EV charger comes in three models: the single-phase VAS-7-G2 and the three-phase VAT-11-G2 and VAT-22-G2. They are used with Hoymiles energy storage inverter to form a complete home solar system.

EV Charger Power rating Inverter
VAS-7-G2 7 kW HYS-(3.0-6.0)LV-EUG1
HAS-(3.0-5.0)LV-EUG1
HYS-(8.0-12.0)LV-EUG2
VAT-11-G2 11 kW HYT-(8.0-12.0)HV-EUG1
HAT-(5.0-10.0)HV-EUG1
VAT-22-G2 22 kW HYT-(8.0-12.0)HV-EUG1
HAT-(5.0-10.0)HV-EUG1

Three charging modes to promise greater economy

The complete solution makes sure solar from PV, power stored in battery and the electricity from the grid are wisely utilized to lower the electricity cost and give users more energy freedom. Specifically, Hoymiles EV charger offers three charging modes.

The Scheduled Charging mode allows users to set the charging time by the day (Monday to Sunday). The EV charger will start charging only in the pre-set time and automatically stop charging when the time is up. Users can also stop charging on their phone app or by swiping the RFID card. This mode is expected to save 40% electricity cost per year.

In the Charge Now mode, the charger will work at its highest output power upon the user’s request until the vehicle battery is full or there is command to stop.

To help homeowners fully utilize their solar production and lower energy bills, the Hoymiles charging solution also offers a featured Green Power mode. In the green power mode, the EV charger is no longer a regular home appliance, but a component in the energy storage system. This means the charger will dynamically adjust its charging power to make sure it always prioritizes surplus PV power, with little to no power from the grid. Enabling this mode can save EV car owners as much as 260€ per year.

A solution that guarantees comprehensive safety

Safety always matters most for any electric product. Hoymiles EV charger is built with comprehensive safety settings to give users complete peace of mind.

Our charger is equipped with Type A 30mA +DC 6mA double electricity leakage detection functionality. This means the device can effectively detect and cut leakage current, thus providing all-around protection during charging. In addition, we have seven types of electrical protection including overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, residual current, over temperature, grounding fault, and integrated surge protection.

Smart energy control and minimal O&M

Just like other Hoymiles products, the EV charger is also monitored on the S-Miles cloud platform. Users can turn on and off charging and modify settings remotely on the S-Miles app or S-Miles web portal. Furthermore, the PV-ESS-EV System is integrated with load control and incoming current protection mechanism to ensure stable system operation.

Built to outperform and last

Hoymiles EV charger is built to last. The IK 10 impact protection rating – the highest degree of protection for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts – ensures the enclosure is safe and sound in case of extreme events. The IP65 enclosure rating means the charger can be used indoors and outdoors regardless of harsh environmental conditions.

At the same time, the Hoymiles EV charger is embedded with the 4th-gen smart chip that is more durable and guarantees millisecond-level responses to instructions from the energy storage inverter.

The system also supports two EV chargers in parallel if users have more EV cars in their family.
